2019 Lincoln Veterans Parade

On Nov 9th, the parade opening ceremony will be on the Capitol Building North Steps with special guests and speakers. At 2 pm the Grand Marshall will start the parade which travels on K St from S 21st to S 14th St. The parade will feature local Veteran Service Organizations, Marching Bands, vehicles, and Parade Balloons to name a few.

This year's theme is the 75th Anniversary of D-Day and the Battle of Normandy. On June 6th 1944, the largest seaborne invasion took place. The Allied forces from America, Britain, Canada, Belgium, Denmark, Holland, Norway, Poland, Australia stormed the beaches of Normandy and paratrooped into France. Operation Overlord freed Western Europe of German occupation and deemed it 'The Beginning of the End of the War'. Their strength and tenacity to push through obsticles is celebrated in remembering the past and honoring the present.

Strategic Air Command & Aerospace Museum Veterans Day

The Strategic Air Command & Aerospace Museum honors America’s military veterans with a special program and lunch on November 11, 2019. The program begins at 11:30 AM with the presentation ending at 1 PM. All military (active, retired and veterans) are welcome to attend the program for free, but must register in advance. General admission applies to non-members and all other guests. This lunch program features posting of the colors and a keynote speaker. Veterans are encouraged to attend this event in uniform. Admission is paid at the door upon arrival to the Museum, but an RSVP is required prior to the event. A complimentary light lunch is included with your admission to this program. Please RSVP by November 2.

 

A seven-year veteran, Nick Rucker, has been through deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan. During his time in the Army, Rucker worked in small-arms repair, fixing weapons for U.S. troops and other coalition forces. In Afghanistan, he flew more than 60 missions providing support to the Afghan National Army, the Turkish Army and Polish Special Forces. He is a soldier and a country singer. Based out of Omaha, Neb. Rucker uses his life experiences and emotions to distinguish his gritty sound and meaningful lyrical content.

In the last few years, Rucker has played more than 150 concerts. He has released several music videos and established many noteworthy relationships.

WHO: Discharging Servicemembers, Veterans, their families and survivors

What: Claims clinic - Discharging Servicemembers, Veterans, and their families, and survivors will be able to file disability claims, submit evidence, speak with a claims processor, speak with Regional Office Leadership. In addition, to the Lincoln Regional Office representatives the Nebraska Depart-ment of Veterans Affairs Veteran Service Officers (VSO) and Veterans Health Administration representatives will be available to assist with answering ques-tions.
