Memorial and Death

Fort McPherson National Cemetery is a 20-acre cemetery in Maxwell, Nebraska. Any veteran who is buried in a national cemetery is entitled to military funeral honors that include folding and presentation of the U.S. flag to the next of kin and the playing of Taps.

Omaha National Cemetery is a 236-acre cemetery in Sarpy County, Nebraska. Burial in a national cemetery is open to all members of the armed forces who have met a minimum active duty service requirement and were discharged under conditions other than dishonorable.

VA Survivors Pension is a monthly payment to qualified surviving spouses and unmarried dependent children of wartime veterans who meet certain income and net worth limits set by congress.

DIC: Dependency and Indemnity Compensation is a tax free monthly benefit paid to eligible survivors of military service members who died in the line of duty or eligible survivors of veterans whose death resulted from a service-connected injury or disease.

The Nebraska Veterans Cemetery at Alliance offers Nebraska veterans a final resting place that is fitting of the honor they are owed. Burial fields are available for casket or cremation remains for veterans and their eligible dependents. Memorial Services are offered, with full Military Funeral Honors, for all veterans.

Nebraska Veterans Aid provides temporary emergency funds to veterans, their spouses, and dependents when an emergency occurs disrupting their normal method of living and when other resources are not immediately available.
