Legal and Advocacy Assistance

The Douglas County Veterans Treatment Court (DCVTC) was established to offer eligible justice-involved veterans an alternative to the traditional criminal justice system by providing them support and rehabilitation through comprehensive substance use and/or mental health treatment, education, employment, vocational programs; and community resource referrals for housing, childcare, and transportation, all while being judicially monitored. It is an 18 to 24 month program.

The Veterans Treatment Court program is designed to offer justice-involved Veterans the opportunity to remain in the community by through judicial supervision and ongoing treatment programming. Lasting from 18 months to 24 months in length, the program targets veterans charged with criminal conduct.

Veterans Coffee & Counsel Program provides limited scope, short-term representation to veterans in need of legal advice or services that can be provided during one hour appointments

Nebraska Law requires that a preference shall be given to eligible veterans, service members, and eligible spouses seeking initial or return (unless terminated for disciplinary reasons) employment within the State of Nebraska or any state or local government.
