This unique experience is designed to engage the senses, learn different communication techniques, and discover what we can learn from our equine partners that can assist us in everyday life. This hands on activity will have you engaged in activities with the horses such as Herd Dynamics, Leading, and Grooming. HETRA offers a comfortable and supportive environment tailored to meet your needs.

These events are FREE to Veterans, Active Duty Military, First Responders, Spouse, significant others and caregivers (adults only please). Reservations are required and can be made through the website or QR on the poster.

Come meet with the NDVA outreach team to learn about federal, state, and local benefits you and your family may be eligible to receive. NDVA will have accredited state veteran service officers available to assist veterans with reviewing current claims, evaluating benefits veterans are currently receiving, educating veterans on navigating veteran benefits, and submitting applications to receive benefits.

Veterans Benefits Administration personnel will be on hand to process benefits claims as well as help answer any questions you may have regarding VA compensation and pension benefits, and vocational rehabilitation and employment benefits. Contract examiners will also be available to to provide C&P exams to further expedite the claims process.

Vietnam War Veterans Day Ceremony

On Thursday, March 28th, Governor Jim Pillen will host Nebraska Vietnam War veterans at the Nebraska State Capitol to honor and thank them for their service and to proclaim March 29th as Vietnam War Veterans Day in Nebraska.

Governor Pillen and NDVA Director John Hilgert will make remarks and present veterans with honorary lapel pins.

Vietnam War Era Veterans who served on active duty in the U.S. Armed Forces at any time during the period of November 1, 1955 to May 15, 1975, regardless of location, and who have not yet already received one, are eligible to receive a lapel pin.

Veterans Legislative Day

Veterans Legislative Day will be held Friday, February 2, 2024 in the Warner Chamber at the State Capitol. Veterans Legislative Day is an annual event to discuss Nebraska Legislation pertaining to veterans and their families.

Registration begins at 8:00 a.m. and the event will begin at 8:30 a.m. Anticipated guest speakers include Governor Jim Pillen, NDVA Director John Hilgert, and Nebraska State Senators.

"One on the Thunder Trail: A Native Vietnam Veteran’s Story" Movie Screening

The premiere of a documentary featuring a Santee Sioux Vietnam War veteran’s story will take place at 2:30 p.m. Nov. 15 in the Andersen Hall auditorium at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln. The screening, sponsored by the University Libraries, is free and open to the public.
